ANZLIC Metadata Editor for ArcGIS is an ArcGIS Desktop add-in that helps organizations in Australia and New Zealand create, edit, and validate geospatial metadata that complies with the ANZLIC profile of ISO 19115/19139. Developed by ESRI Australia, it embeds a guided, form-based editor in ArcCatalog and ArcMap so users can produce consistent, standards-compliant records for datasets, maps, and layers with minimal training.

Key features:

  • ANZLIC-compliant forms with field-level help, required/conditional rules, and controlled vocabularies
  • Templates to jump-start new records and promote consistency across projects
  • Automatic mapping of ArcGIS item properties (title, abstract, extent, spatial reference, lineage) to ANZLIC elements
  • Validation tools that check completeness and profile conformance before publication
  • Import and export of metadata, including ISO 19139 XML output suitable for discovery catalogs and CSW-based portals
  • Integration with ArcGIS metadata workflows, including thumbnails, keywords, contacts, and maintenance information

By standardizing metadata creation and simplifying quality checks, the ANZLIC Metadata Editor for ArcGIS improves data discoverability and helps agencies meet compliance and reporting obligations across their spatial data holdings.

ANZLIC Metadata Editor for ArcGIS is developed by ESRI Australia. The most popular version of this product among our users is 10.2. The name of the program executable file is ArcGISAdmin.exe.
